Favorite Restaurants in Miami

As I am often asked to share a list of my favorite restaurants on Miami Beach and our local areas and I thought that I’d share this list that I just developed for a friend.

I have not listed the famous chains or neighborhood restaurants that are nice but you can find similar experiences in other parts of the country.  For a full list of restaurants you can go to http://www.opentable.com/fl/miami-beach-restaurants  and Open Table’s Best Restaurant’s tab is a worthy resource. 

The Villa By Barton G

Cuisine: European
Style: Romantic
Price:$50 and over ($$$$) and be careful of alcohol price I missed that champagne was $75/glass

South Beach’s most prestigious experience. This is a special/romantic experience (restaurant and boutique hotel) housed in the former Versace Mansion.
Early reservations essential.

Barton G. The Restaurant

(aligned with restaurant above but different style)
Cuisine: Contemporary American
Style: Miami Fun and Relaxed for special occasions.
Price:$31 to $50 ($$$)

This
is a fun and experiential kind of restaurant. Nitrogen frozen drinks and stunning presentation of food.
Reservations: Recommended.

Juvia

Cuisine: French / Japanese
Style: Miami Relaxed Lively (time of day dependent)
Price:$50 and over ($$$)

Indoor and outdoor restaurant and bar/lounge on the penthouse level (11th floor as I remember) overlooking South Beach and Biscayne Bay.
Dinner reservations are essential. Lunch time not always required.

Area 31

Cuisine: Inspired Modern American Cuisine
Style: Miami relaxed
Price:$31 to $50 ($$$)

On
a high floor looking over downtown Miami. The outdoor experience on a high floor and the excellent food makes this worth the trip to downtown.
Dinner reservations are essential.

Dolores But You Can Call Me Lolita

Cuisine:: International
Style Latin family and lively
Price:$30 and under ($$)

old fire house where you can eat inside or on the roof deck (2nd floor) in a wonderful family owned Latin style restaurant..
Dinner reservations recommended.

Michael’s (Genuine Food & Drink)

Cuisine: Contemporary American
Style: Awarding wining restaurant in the Design District
Price:$30 and under ($$)

This
is a foodie restaurant in the Design District. Not a spectacular location but spectacular food.
Dinner reservations recommended.

Texas De Brazil

Cuisine: Brazilian Churrascaria (meat carved from a skewer)
Style: Miami Relaxed
Price:$50 and over ($$$)

Only
for meat/cow eaters. Go early evening to watch the sunset form the restaurant
Reservations: Large restaurant and worth making a reservation.
